Hello and welcome to the auditions for RiverClan's lovely Thistletooth x Locuststorm kits
THOCUST kits, if you will
FeralHeart username: Discord name: ----(#---) Current characters you have: Activity: -/10 Quick RP sample: (using Pepperkit) ---------------------------------- At the beginning both Pepperkit and Saltkit will have decent relationships with Thistletooth, mostly due to their father being much less caring towards them and instead focusing on their daughter. Locuststorm teaches them family values and how to be toms. Other than this, he has no interest in the boys.
FeralHeart username: Discord name: ----(#---) Current characters you have: Activity: -/10 Quick RP sample: (using Saltkit) ---------------------------------- Thistletooth will be caring and supportive towards them, but as they grow older she will start to pay less attention to them. She'll continue to be kind and supportive of them, but won't inwardly care as much about them as she may pretend to outwardly. Locuststorm teaches them family values and how to be toms. Other than this, he has no interest in the boys.
FeralHeart username: Discord name: ----(#---) Current characters you have: Activity: -/10 Quick RP sample: (using Patchkit) ---------------------------------- Locuststorm's favorite kit, his prized possession and only daughter. He is much more caring and loving toward Patchkit, giving the boys more "tough-love". He calls her his queen and respects her more than any she-cat in his life. He spends his time with the kits paying the most attention to Patchkit, trying to make sure she never ends up with a scumbag like himself.

Blinking her eyes against the early sun, Patchkit clumsily wiggled her way out of the nursery with a grunt. After scrambling out into the clearing, she'd shake out quickly and run over to Locuststorm. He'd promised to play today, after the she-kit complained of her brothers being boring. "Dadddd," the white fluff ball would start, "you said you'd come get me in the morning! Well it's morning!" Patchkit would puff out her chest with a purr, looking up at her father with bright affectionate eyes. A small yawn escaped her as she fell back on her rump waiting for an answer. "Don't make me stay here and play with Pepperkit or Saltkit again!" his daughter mewed, "They aren't fun anymore." Patchkit then dipped into a crouch and swiped at Locuststorm's forepaw before rolling over on her back. "Plllleeeeaaaasssseeee!" she'd purr sweetly, getting back up and rubbing against his leg. Patchkit was making sure she'd tried everything to get her dad to give in.

Deep within the recesses of the willow laden camp between the reed woven walls of the mossy floored dens, two small eyes seemed to shimmer, reflecting the moonlight that had brindled the camp clearing before him. The dark evening air held a cool chill to it; the portly kit's long, messy fur was tugged slightly by the traveling wind as he pressed two firm paws onto the sod beneath him. His short kitten tail was held erect as he took in all the unique sights and smells- why, he could feel his paws tingling with excitement! With the desire to explore! And yet- would mother approve?
Two ears pivoted back slightly as he looked further into the den he had been resting in, his glassy kit gaze fixating on the form of his silvery tabby mother, his sibling's pale forms nestled in firmly against her chest. He would scowl slightly as he looked at them, Patchkit in particular hitting a nerve with the tom. She always seemed to get the most attention, what made her so special? Looking back at his mother, he would lift his head slightly, as if to catch her gaze. Seeing that it was indeed closed and missing, he would smile and turn.
Would mother approve if he were to venture out into camp? Well, she wouldn't have to approve of anything if she didn't know! Turning back around and having very much decided on his course of action, he would began strutting confidently out into the open. The smell of so many new cats instantly hit him, almost causing his belly to rake against the ground as ducked into a crawl, the wind and shock pushing him down. Despite this, the ambitious kit was caught by a passing thought:
"Dad doesn't walk like that when he leaves the nursery." Pepperkit paused, his face screwing into a determined scowl. With a bottom tooth prying at his upper lip, the kit would stand and once more strut forth, this time letting his nose control his seemingly aimless meandering. From the starchy reeds that were being lapped at by a seemingly endless amount of water to the dangling, sweet smelling willows that hung just above the tom's reach, the big kit strolled with his maw agape in awe. The camp was truly huge, just like his mother had told him! There was so much to do, so much to see! Maybe he could even see his dad do the deputy things his mother had spoken about? However as excited as the kit would get, he would, once more, get distracted by another churning smell, causing his head to turn like that of an owl.
There in the pale dappled moonlight shimmered the form of a fish. Pepperkit dropped into a crouch instantly.
A fish, out in the wild! Pepperkit could hardly believe it! His two kit like eyes were about as round as the moon as he wagged his rump about in the air, his back feet kicking at the soil beneath him, muddying up his paws. How was he supposed to go about catching it? It seemed like it hadn't seen him yet, it must have been relaxing in the moonlight! Oh, father would be so proud if he caught a fish and brought it back to the nursery!
Completely oblivious to the pile of fish just on the other side of the massive willow, Pepperkit would grunt slightly as he tossed himself into a roll, hiding behind a small stone. He then did so again, rolling closer, this time behind some wilting reeds. He was so close, he could almost taste it! Scrunching up his body, the tom would breathe out before tossing himself wildly at the already dead fish, his paws slapping angrily at the fish beneath him.
WHAM! THUD!
"I've got you now!"
Slap, slap, SLAP!
"Die!"
Laying three heavy slaps to the fish's body, the pudgy tom would proudly stand atop his first 'catch,' his eyes filled with pride as he glowered down upon his defeated foe! It was almost as big as he was, and he had taken it down! Not only did he feel three times his size, but he felt a warm sensation creep up from within his chest. Whatever it was, he liked it! Oh dad was going to be so proud! Maybe he could hide it in mother's nest, so that when she woke up, she could be surprised? Oh he was such a sharp kit!
With an insurmountable amount of pride, the tom would turn and grip at the fishes tail, practically waddling with it slowly as he drug it under him towards the nursery. Despite being covered in muck and smelling like dead fish, Pepperkit was practically glowing as he entered the nursery. Slowly and carefully, he would stuff the fish under his mother's nest before he carefully clambered back into the pile of siblings, his heart still beating from the whole ordeal. Morning was to come soon, and he just couldn't wait to see the look on his mother and father's faces! He was going to show that he was a good kit too, just like Patchkit!

Quick RP sample: (using Patchkit)
The first chirrups of avian emanated through the bracken barrier of the nursery, successful at rousing the downy kit from her tranquil slumber. Blinking once, twice, Patchkit pried open her eyes to half-mast as she peered ahead, her green gaze bleary with sleep as she narrowed her eyes against the harsh glare of sunlight filtering through the entrance of the nursery. Nose wrinkling she was quick to shift in the nest, her small fore-paws outstretching and pressing forward against Thistletooth's soft fur as a shrill yawn resonated from the back of her throat. Almost instantaneously her head snapped towards-- wait where was he? Breath hitching Patchkit stared at the empty space where her father had laid only last night, and now he has vanished! Ears pivoting forward she gave a brisk shake of her fur, not at all concerned whether or not she'd rouse her brothers, they were both so lazy! Why were they still sleeping? Eyes narrowing expertly she'd take it upon herself to jab a single paw into Saltkit's flank.
Nothing. No response at all.
Whiskers spreading to press against her fluffy cheeks she'd sound with a scoff of indignation as she snapped her head to the left, before prodding Pepperkit just as she had Saltkit. She waited expectantly for one second, two seconds-- what was taking them so long! In reality, it was only a few mere passing seconds, but for Patchkit everything seemed like an eternity. It was simply to no avail! Feeling deflated she allowed her eyes to then travel to Thistletooth, who was clearly sound asleep. Why was everyone ignoring her? Did no one want to give her attention? Blinking once, twice, she kneaded her paws into the soft woven nesting, a sudden bout of apprehension settling over her as she eyed her Mother sceptically, her brows furrowing in contemplation. Would Thistletooth be mad if she left the nursery? She couldn't be! It simply wasn't possible! Besides, she was the favourite. After a fleeting second of dwelling, the black and white kit shuffled her weight, small paws clambering over the bundled bodies of her littermates carelessly and she was certain she may have accidentally kicked one of her brothers in the face during her escape, but it was no matter! She had to find her father! He could need help!
The second she tottered out of the confines of the nest she made haste towards the exit of the nursery, albeit clumsily, as she approached the exit of the reed woven den. Almost instantly she was enveloped by a harsh breeze as it billowed against her small frame, resulting in the she-kit's downy fur doubling as she faced the formidable adversary, maintaining her composure as the deadly wind belted against her chest. But no wind would deter her from seeing her father! Ears pivoting to flatten against her skull she pushed past the barrier of the nursery, chin elevating in her attempt to seem as poised as possible, she was the kit of the deputy after all! Alas, it was when a stray reed caught to her fur that all sense of naive composure left the kitten. With a loud gasp, she leapt forward, spinning on her paws clumsily in an attempt to be rid of the horrid thing that dare get stuck in her fur! Thistletooth had just groomed her last night! With a muffled meow of utter despair, she bounded further into the clearing, stumbling over her own paws as she frantically attempted to be rid of the reed that stuck to her flank. Admittedly, she didn't exactly heed her surroundings and bumped into a few traversing paws during her frantic gallop through the clearing which resulted in more than one vexed exclaim. "Sorry!" she squeaked feebly to those she had accidentally gotten under their paws. Neck straining she eventually fell upon her haunches in the middle of the clearing, attempting to reach the snagged reed with her teeth, but it was no use! It was then that young Patchkit resorted to the most unruly of actions... an action only the likes of Saltkit or Pepperkit would resort to... but she was desperate! With a wriggle of anguish, she allowed herself to plummet to the ground as she rolled onto her back, pawing frantically at her flank as despair flashed in her eyes. Why was it still there? She couldn't help but stare in horror as the reed continued to stick out from her white fur, seemingly tormenting her. "Help! I can't get it off!" she cried aloud, small body thrashing against the damp ground which was dewy with condensation which unknowingly to Patchkit, further dirtied her usually pristine fur.
Then suddenly she was being plucked off the ground, her weight instinctively slumping as she was swept up by-- eyes narrowing she craned her neck to see who had come to her rescue, and of course, it was none other than-- "Dad!" she chirruped in elation, gratitude-- glee! Her father had come to save her! For a moment all previous dilemmas seemingly diminished, but of course, that was only for a fleeting second. She wouldn't be pleased until it was gone! "Look-- it's stuck to me! Can you get rid of it? Please? It won't leave me alone!" she whined, her nose scrunching up in distaste as the black and white deputy placed her back down upon the dense flooring gently, before he craned his neck, plucking the reed straight off! Eyes widening in awe she looked at her now reed ridden fur, before craning her neck to look back up at her father. How... did he do that? He made it look so easy! But then again, there wasn't much her father couldn't do! He was the best, after all! "You saved me!" she breathed, a small purr resonating from her chest as she brushed her head against his flank, breathing in his comforting scent as she allowed her small body to slump against his flank, revelling in the presence that was none other than her father. She could always rely on him! But there was just one problem. Nape prickling she returned her gaze to her fur once more, which was adorned with pieces of grit. Oh no, her worst nightmare had come true...
She looked just like her brothers!
This was, most certainly, the most mortifying revelation she had ever faced.

Saltkit Audition
FeralHeart username: tapcap (will use a side account for Saltkit) Discord name: Tap(#9147) Current characters you have: Brindlebee, Buzzardpaw, Pansypaw Activity: 9/10
Quick RP sample:
Saltkit stares forlornly out the den as the rain pounds against the earth, churning it into a muddy mess. He'd just wanted to play, but that plan was now all for naught. He couldn't go outside or else he'd get cold and wet. The last time he'd tried a clan-mate had scolded him, and he didn't exactly want to run into that problem again. Unless he could do it while no one was looking...? It was raining pretty heavily. Maybe he could get away with it...? No, he was practically asking to get caught if he went out there. He cursed his mostly-white coat. It was the biggest obstacle in his way! He stares grumpily out the nursery some more, and slowly starts to form an idea...
He needed something to hide his coat... but what could he use? Leaves? No.... Maybe feathers? There's no way he'd find enough... Were twigs a possibility...? Nah... that was dumb too. Oh.. wait! Rain brings mud! He could cover his coat in mud to hide, right? It was the perfect plan, and then he could splash in puddles all he wanted! There were only two things that could mess this all up: mom and dad. Thistletooth and Locuststorm seemed to be busy, though. His father was doting on his dumb sister, Patchkit, as per usual. She was probably afraid of the rain, how stupid! Meanwhile his mother was sleeping through the bout with his brother, Pepperkit. Coast was all clear, then! He doubted they'd be waking up for a while. Plus, he'd already sneaked away from them all, right? Right! He was already good at this!
Set and ready to go, he crawls out the nursery and heads straight for the nearest patch of mud. Saltkit dives into it greedily, and rolls around until he's sure he's nice and covered. Part one, done! The best thing about this plan was there was only one part, so he was already finished! He could have fun now, and no one would be any wiser. It's not like anyone was out in the downpour. With a quiet squeal of joyous victory, the tom-kit prances to the biggest puddle and starts to splash around. His big, blue eyes squint with the weight of his merriment, and he hops about without a care in the world. He's so engrossed in his fun that he doesn't hear the sound of paw-steps approaching, and doesn't expect a pair of mighty paws to slam in front of him.
A mewl of fear and suddenly he stands frozen, dripping mud and water where he stands in the puddle. A huge, hulking figure is scowling down at him, and he instantly recognizes it as Scorchfang*. The very same cat who'd busted him before! His fear turns to anger, and suddenly he's trying to poof up his messy, water-logged coat. He successfully pulls a grumpy pout though, eyes narrowed, as he stares down his unexpected adversary.
"What do you think you're doing out here, Saltkit?" Scorchfang hisses.
"I-I was playing in the puddles!" Saltkit says bravely, trying to square his small shoulders and puff out is chest. He wonders briefly how the warrior found him, and realizes his disguise has... washed right off of him. What he doesn't realize is that a kit splashing in puddles makes a surprising amount of noise
"You're supposed to be in the nursery, you mouse-brain. Now I'll have to take you to the medicine den to get you properly warmed--or even right back to where you ought to be," he meows.
The kits' eyes widen at that, but quickly narrow again. "I don't need to be warmed. I'm perfectly fine out here!"
"Try telling me that when you get sick, you moronic child," he scolds, lip curling.
All of his bravado leaves him at that, but there's still a cold anger in his chest. "Fine," he mutters, admitting defeat. He doesn't want to get sick, after all. That'd just get him in more trouble.
"Good, now come along. I'm not carrying you," Scorchfang meows, and sets a brisk pace towards the medicine den.
Saltkit follows at a slower rate, realizing only now just how cold he is. As he walks, he starts to ponder on what went wrong.... His plan was so perfect...! But the rain had ruined it all, and Scorchfang had decided to take advantage of that. He's struck with a realization as his amble of shame continues. No wonder Patchkit got all the attention! She'd never do anything so stupid.... And, maybe if she did, Locuststorm wouldn't care either way. He wondered why that was. What made Patchkit so good, and Pepperkit and himself so easy to overlook? He was their father, too....
A sadness he doesn't understand claims him next, seemingly completing the emotional ride. Maybe he shouldn't want Locuststorm's attention after all. Maybe he wasn't worth it. Did Thistletooth like him, even? He wasn't fond of the thought of her disliking him! But what if she does hate him? He wasn't Patchkit, or even Pepperkit, after all. Saltkit finds that there's too much he doesn't want to think about, too many questions he won't ever ask. He doesn't like feeling this way, but he can't seem to help it! He'd just wanted to play, and now he was doing anything but. The bicolor's head bows lower the closer he gets to the medicine den, following in Scorchfang's shadow.
(*Scorchfang is a NPC conjured up for this RP sample! (he's also Pansypaw's NPC dad, cause yay continuity!)
